GTC Hungary: For EUR 2 million we can make you tall and pretty!

Remodeling of the Duna Tower, Budapest’s highest office building, is now complete:

  • Full refurbishment of common areas, restaurant and coffee shop and garden
  • 1,500 employees work in the towers
  • Dynamically developing Budapest office market

2016, Budapest – GTC Hungary has given the 10-year-old Duna Tower Office Building a EUR 2 million facelift and technical upgrade. The interior refurbishing of 3,000 m2 of common areas and technical reconstruction of Budapest’s highest office building started in July. The remodeling of the 16-storey, 31,500m2 gross leasable area building focused on the lobby, the cafeteria, the terrace and the garden (to be completed in a few weeks). The building’s air-conditioning system reconstruction is also in progress.

The Duna Tower Office was purchased by GTC International Group in one of the biggest single asset office building acquisitions in 2015. The interior refurbishing including the floor surface, the wall finish, completely new entrance gate, reception, colourful glass ceiling and technical reconstruction lasted for 4 months. KÖZTI Architects & Engineers won the tender to remodel the 16-storey, 31,500m2 gross leasable area building. The tenants can also enjoy the new lobby, garden, restaurant and coffee shop furniture. GTC Hungary is providing tablets in the refurbished lobby, and all visitors are encouraged to make use of the devices.

A completely different atmosphere now welcomes the 1,500 employees that work in the towers. The boat which dominated the lobby over the past 10 years has set sail, and the space now feels expanded, light and airy. The senses are further excited by a new glass ceiling decoration that refracts lobby sunlight into a cascade of colors.

GTC Hungary is providing tablets in the refurbished lobby, and all visitors are encouraged to make use of the devices. The new look of the cafeteria and the terrace follows the modern, pure design of the renewed community areas.

„There is an unambiguous need for category A offices in the post-crisis, reviving Budapest office market. Companies want to move into office buildings that offering premium services in an elegant and friendly atmosphere,” said GTC Commercial Director Bori Gedai. „This was why GTC Hungary decided to refit and recast the decade-old Duna Tower Office. We wanted to address those needs, and in doing so we’ve tried to create the most attractive environment in Budapest’s highest office building.”

Meanwhile GTC Hungary moves forward with its newest 21.500 m2 office development project. Construction of the GTC White House, which will combine unique architectural solutions with city traditions and contemporary trends, was launched in July. The building design fully incorporates the 100-year-old building of the former Schlick Iron Foundry and Machine Factory to create loft offices of approximately 2000 m2, organically surrounded by 19.500 m2 of new, class A office space to satisfy premium demand.

With the development of GTC White House, the Hungarian affiliate of the corporation extends its entire domestic office portfolio to 140,000 m2. Several other premium category properties are also owned by GTC Hungary, including Center Point Office (the capital’s largest office centre), GTC Metro, and Spirál.
